I grew up in a small, rural town of 1,000 people - Kingsley, Iowa. I come from a family of carpenters & cabinet builders. My mom was an elementary school teacher and I always wanted to follow in her footsteps, but little did I know how my dads business of building cabinets and then becoming a homebuilder was cultivating my future. After I graduated high school my parents moved from Kingsley to Okoboji and that is when my dad and uncle began their home building/land developing business.
I graduated from college with a degree in elementary education and taught school in Sioux City, Iowa for the first 5 years out of college. I then switched gears and moved to St. Paul, MN for 7 years and worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Procter & Gamble. I always let my current clients know (when in a listing appt.) that working for a Fortune 500 company, getting training from a world class company, was a huge stepping stone in my professional life. P&G downsized and then I was a gallery manager in a showroom downtown Minneapolis for Cambria (quartz countertops). After that I moved back to Iowa and sold ads at our local newspaper while pursuing my real estate license. Not sure if any of that should go on the page… I have been selling real estate for 2 years and feel that my current successes are attributed to the different jobs I have had.
Also, I have 4 kids & live on a farm. We live on 18 acres just east of Okoboji and farm corn and soybeans. We live in my husbands grandparents home, which is the house my husbands dad grew up in. So our farm has been in the family for generations. Just 4 years ago we completely remodeled our home, so I can relate to anyone living through a home remodel/update. We are moving our oldest to college this weekend, will have a son that’s a senior and we have 4 year old twins starting pre-k! So I have been “momming” for almost 19 years and starting again with my 4 year olds - here we go! I can multi-task like no other and am very competitive with MYSELF. I work relentlessly at my real estate career and it’s not unusual for me to be sitting at my kitchen table at midnight working. I’m constantly pushing myself and never feel as if there are enough hours in the day.
